Elizabeth CritesElizabeth Crites is an Associate Attorney at Broyles, Kight, & Ricafort, PC.  She began with the firm as a law clerk in 2005.  Elizabeth graduated summa cum laude from Ball State University in 2005 with degrees in Spanish, Political Science, and Criminology.  She graduated from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois in 2009.  She is currently a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association.

 

Elizabeth has helped countless mixed-status families prevent devastating separation through Consular Processing, Applications for Waivers of Inadmissibility, and Deportation Defense. She has extensive experience preparing waiver packets that succinctly and effectively demonstrate the clients’ hardship and eligibility for legal permanent residence. Using an all-encompassing approach Elizabeth navigates individuals through removal proceedings from the moment of arrest through the final individual hearing in Immigration Court. Such support includes, but is not limited to, assisting loved ones post bonds, composing and submitting critical briefs and motions in support of the requested relief, preparing clients and witnesses for direct and cross-examination, and representation in the Immigration Court.


Elizabeth first became interested in immigration after being selected to participate in “Servir y Aprender,” an interdisciplinary immigration research project at the acclaimed Virginia Ball Center.  Through her field research, she discovered the many legal, social, and economic hurdles facing multi-status families and undocumented individuals. From that point forward, Elizabeth dedicated her professional life to assisting immigrants obtain permanent residence. In her free time, Elizabeth volunteers with the International Visitor’s Center of Chicago where she hosts political, social, and artistic leaders from all over the world and Chicago Professionals for Youth where she assists inner-city high school seniors prepare for college.  Elizabeth is proficient in conversational Spanish after living in Guatemala, Spain, Chile, and Miami.
